Orla Fallon is a former member of the hugely popular group Celtic Woman. Her new solo CD is called Distant Shore. Fans will certainly enjoy this immensely. The arrangements and Orla’s voice are quite lovely. New-age music often gets a bad rap, but Distant Shore has something to please almost everyone. Fans of irish music, new age fans, and fans of Celtic Woman will all want to get their own copy of the CD. Orla worked with some terrific producers including Eoghan O’Neill (Riverdance, Celtic Woman) and Dan Shea, who has worked with everyone from Carlos Santana to Mariah Carey.
Picking a favorite track is a difficult task. The title song “Distant Shore” is especially good. Fans of more traditional Irish music will love “Bean An Ti'” which is lively and pretty. “Always There” is uplifting and heartfelt, while Orla’s voice sounds fantastic on “You’ll Never Be the Sun”. “Distant Shore” is a terrific addition to the music collection of any fan of Irish music, Celtic Woman, or just good music in general. I highly recommend picking up your copy ASAP.
Grade: A-

Agree!
This abum is a must. Here you will hear the haunting quality of Orlagh’s voice expanded, lifted and filled with newness. Every track is a delight; my faves being “Moonlight” and “Simple Love”. She left Celtic Woman to some grumbles, but it was obviously the right move for her.
The music never overpowers her soft voice, the arrangements are excellent, the spirit of the tunes is positive and gentle, perfectly tuned to her strengths.
I must hope for more when she can. BUY IT!
