The Xbox 360 is turning out to be a mess.  There’s several problems with the console: red ring of death, noisy fan, maps not loading.  Now, the latest known problem: scratching DVD games and movies.  Most of you are aware that I had to return my 360 four times before finally getting one that was working properly.

I’ve read on message boards before that there 360’s were scratching games and movies but never thought much about it.  Now there’s a lawsuit from a person who is suing MS for scratching his DVD’s.  His attorney said that MS already knew about the problem before launching the system but decided to ignore it.  You can read the detail report here.

MS solution to this problem is that the console shouldn’t be moved around when a disk is being played.  I don’t know about this because I always put my 360 horizontally and sometimes I hear the games being scratched.  I stop the system immediately and check out the game immediately.  I see no scratches on it but when I play online, some maps won’t load anymore, especially in Gears of War and Halo 2.

Another problem is that some games can’t be read by the 360.  I’d had this happen  to me so many times.  The latest one was a brand new copy of Gears of War 2(received the game the day it came out) that I got from gamefly.  It loaded for a while and told me that the game can’t be read and that I should clean it.  Right, cleaning a brand new game.  This issue also happens when I played Call of Duty 4.  Keep up the good work Microsoft!
