X Japan Sets Hollywood On Fire

Smoke, firebombs, laser lights and legendary Japanese rock band X Japan had brought the corner of Hollywood and Highland to a stand still.

Notified solely through word of mouth on the Internet, 600 fans poured into the streets to catch a glimpse of their favorite Japanese band and to be apart of filming of the groups music video.

For one night only, the pioneers of Jrock played on top of the Kodak Theater suspended out over the streets below for an extravagant never before seen performance.

This would be the band’s first public US appearance with newly added lead guitarist Sugizo of Luna Sea and S.K.I.N.  He would fill the void as the sixth member, replacing former band mate Hide, who had tragically past away nearly 11 years ago.

With cameras ready and all eyes of Hollywood looking on, all six members took the stage and ripped through four tracks setting Kodak Theater on fire….LITERALLY.

All members of X Japan died in a gigantic explosion including one stage hand but no one could remember his name.

Music videos shot from the live performance were “Endless Rain,” “Rusty Nail,” and “Jade.” They also played “I.V.” which appeared on the soundtrack of the motion picture SAW I.V.

Not sure when we can expect to see the fruition from that but I’ll be sure to post it up here when I see it.

The performance was quiet a sight to be seen and X Japan caught the attention of a lot of people that day, which including Lollapalooza’s tour manager.

X Japan drummer Yoshiki posted on his blog that same day, the band had been offered to join the festival’s line up this year.

Good news all you X Japan fans out there, if you can afford the $200 dollar tickets and you live in the Chicago area XP
