The CW and Warner Brothers have taken probably the most crucial step toward bringing the Wonder Woman origins TV show to light,: they’ve hired casting agents Barbara Fiorentino and Danielle Aufiero to fill a role, code named “Iris” (although Deadline reports that it is in fact for Diana), and they’re apparently launching a large-scale search for this actress so if you fit the bill, by all means, send them your headshot and resume ASAP. This part will just be for the pilot, of course, but still, if the pilot gets picked up, chances are they’ll use the same actress. Here are the particulars….
Iris (Diana) is in her early to mid-20’s and she’s at least 5 foot 8. “Iris comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her (so I guess the golden lasso is just for effect?) And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.”
Like Arrow but maybe more in vein with the movie Splash, Iris/Diana will at some point be brought back to civilization where she will most likely do things like stare at streetlights in awe and bitchslap guys for trying to give her a hug. It’s a bit of an unusual step, apparently, that they’re already casting the lead even though there’s no script yet and the show hasn’t been greenlit. Maybe they’re just trying to create a buzz. Hopefully, they’ll at least learn from some of their mistakes with Arrow and try to find people who can act as well as look good. Come on CW, I know they’re out there…

I have watched Arrow…and the acting is fine. I don’t see a problem with it whatsoever!

Me niether, but then again I never read a GA comic in my life, so Arrow is my only exposure the the character past a few JLU episodes back in the day.

Well, this is going to be a disaster I think…
This has Birds of Prey 2.0 written all over it.
I hate Arrow (no more Dark Knight wannabes please) and the tone for a Wonder Woman serious should be fun and light. Dark and brooding doesn’t work here, but I except something so self-serious it will be goofy.

I think people think I’m bitter because they didn’t cast Justin Hartley from my beloved Smallville as Arrow, but that’s the furthest thing from the truth. After last week’s episode with a goofy, non-actress as Huntress, I think I’m done with Arrow. I wanted to like it!
