Weekend Movie Review Roundup: Senior Citizen Edition

This week brings us another comic book movie starring Bruce Willis while MTV is releasing another Jackass.  Clint Eastwood is back again at the director’s chair for the supernaturla HereAfter.

Bruce Willis stars in the movie Red.  It looked crappy from the previews and trailers but it’s getting positive reviews.  It’s about a group of older hired guns trying to kill each other.   Rottentomatoes rates it at 70%, so I might just have to see this.  Houston Chronicle enjoyed the movie: “Old people who kill people are so much cuter than young people who kill people, right? In a movie like RED, that’s all we need to know.”

Jackass  is back in theatres for the the third installment.  Half of the footage was shot in 3D and you should be seeing some cool effects as Johnny Knoxville and crew do crazy stunts.  I enjoyed the first two so I’ll watch this.  It’s getting a slightly above average score at  58% score.  Cinemblend describes it as shocking but not as fun anymore “It’s so celebratory that fans will probably be happy, but I miss the danger. I miss wondering how no one in this movie ended up dead.”

HereAfter is getting a surprisingly similar score to Jackass with 59%.  This looked good in the previews with crazy end of the world shots and some drama behind it.  Globe and mail describes it as “viewer waits, at first expectantly and later with increasing irritation, as the disparate story strands are forced together in the “are you kidding?” finale.”  The critics are torn because it feels like an M. Night movie and some parts are really slow.  Am I still going to watch it?  Maybe a rental…

I think Red will probably come out on top at the box office but Jackass might give it  a run for it’s money.  See you at the movies!
