United States of Tara Season 2 Ep. 1 Review

HEADER2 United States of Tara Season 2 Ep. 1 ReviewLast night was the premier of the 1st episode of the 2nd season of United States of Tara.  Another SHOWTIME gem from Executive Producer Steven Speilberg, that is just as good as DEXTER or WEEDS. Remember when SHOWTIME use to just show movies and soft-core porn?

For those who have never seen the show, United States of Tara stars Toni Collete(Little Miss Sunshine/Towelhead) as a painter, wife, and suburban mother of two, who shares her body with 4 other alter egos.  T, the pot smokin, hormone raging teenager.  Alice, the devoted Christian and the perfect housewife ripped out of the 1950’s.  Alice actually has her own blog on the show’s website that’s filled with delicious recipes.  And there’s Buck, a man’s man, who explains his lack of a penis by claiming that it was blown off in the Vietnam War, but that doesn’t stop him from getting the ladies.  In the end all the alters are equally as troublesome as the next.

Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 left off, Tara is back on her meds and the alters have been silent for months.  But when a neighbor in their community commits suicide, the alters began to stir.  The last image we see at the end of the episode is Buck walking up to the bar and flirting with the bartender played by Joey Lauren Adams(Chasing Amy/Big Daddy.)  United States of Tara is a awesome show, last season won Toni Collete the Emmy for Best Female Performance and right fully so.  After watching the series, I just don’t see Tina Fey winning, no matter how hot she is.

So check out United States of Tara, Monday @ 10.30 on SHOWTIME
