After putting the final nail in the coffin of his dream to reboot Daredevil this past August, it looks like Joe Carnahan (mostly known for writing The Grey and Smokin’ Aces) is signing on with Warner to direct yet another adaptation of an Image graphic novel, this one called Undying Love. Warner has been working on this thing all year, it seems, but now with Carnahan the project has both a writer and a director, so it should be full steam ahead.
Here is a synopsis of the limited series from the Image website: A tale of horror-action, equal parts vampire mythology and Chinese folklore, set in modern day Hong Kong. Ex-soldier John Sargent has fallen for a beautiful Chinese woman named Mei. The only thing keeping the star-crossed lovers apart: she’s a vampire. To free Mei from the curse, Sargent sets out to destroy the vampire that made her. The only problem: Mei was turned by one of the most powerful vampires in history…
Now that probably the cheesiest vampire series ever oversold to the masses has crapped out its last installment, it’s high time to re-reinvent the genre. My suggestion: let’s start out by making this one Rated R…?
