This event has some well known fighters and should be decent at best. Antonio “Minautoro” Nogueira will make his UFC debut and should impress the crowd. We have two title fights in Silva/Marquardt and Sherk/Franca. The best match of the night should be Ortiz/Evans. Here we go with my predictions:
Silva vs. Marquardt
Silva by tko in the second round. Marquardt’s training camp has been on a losing streak ever since Diego Sanchez lost and it will continue. Marquardt’s only chance of winning this match is a submission. Silva is still training with the Nog brothers in bjj and should be able to defend the submission attempts. Expect Silva to break Marquardt down and finally stopping him in the second round.
Robinson vs. Florian
Robinson’s record might look impressive at 8-1 but he has not fought well known fighters. Florian looked impressive in his last fight against, Mishima, throwing leg kicks at will. Florian will outstrike Robinson and armbar Robinson in the third round.
Evans vs. Ortiz
Rashad Evans will suffer his first loss against Tito Ortiz. Except when he fights the senior citizen, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz usually wins by ground and pound. This will be no exception. Bro Cop is supposedly really strong and will push Tito’s skill to the limit. It will be a back and forth match with Evans winning the first round. Tito will win the second and third round because of his great conditioning. He will smother Evans and win by split decision.
Franca vs. Sherk
Sean Sherk will win in the fourth round by referee stoppage. Sherk will control the fight by the third round with his explosive takedowns and start throwing elbows. Franca will get cut and the referee will have no choice but to stop the fight. Franca has great bjj but Sherk is just too strong for him.
Herring vs. Nogueira
This is their third match and the outcome will be the same: Nogueira winning. In their first two matches, Herring was getting outstruck and outgrappled by Nog. Both fighters are older and injuries have taken their toll I don’t see the point of this fight, oh yes I do: To showcase Nogueira to the UFC fans. Nogueira by armbar in the third round.
These mights not be shown and for the most part, it seems like one sided fights, so I won’t go into details except for the upset:
Nickels vs. Bonnar
I’m going out on a limb here and picking an upset: Nickels by decision. Stephan “Positive Roids” Bonnar looked like crap against his rematch with Forest Griffin. It seems like he is not interested in fighting anymore and Nickels will capitalize on it. Nickels only drawback is that he only has six fights, while Bonnar has 16.
Saraiva vs. Gurgel
Gurgel by decision.
Lytle vs. Gilliam
Lytle by knockout in the second round.
Bocek vs. Edgar
Edgar by first round submission.
