Frankie Edgar (Champion) vs. Gray Maynard – Although both are great wrestlers, I think that this fight will be mostly stand-up. Their wrestling base will keep each other from going to the ground. In the stand-up, Frankie Edgar is faster and more efficient with his in-and-out movements. Maynard will need to take this fight to the ground to win. Edgar is too good of a wrestler, and with a slightly better hands, which leaves Maynard with nothing to win the fight. Edgar will hold on to his belt.

Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann – This could be a slug-fest. Leben is on a winning streak recently beating the highly touted, Yoshihiro Akiyama. Stann is willing to stand and will trade punches with Leben. Stann is one of those fighters that will push the fight all the way through. Leben will need to counter and make sure he doesn’t get taken down. Stann is a strong fighter with a lot will. I pick an upset in this one and say Stann will surprise Leben with his tenacity.

Thiago Silva vs. Brandon Vera – Although, I dislike Silva’s antics in the cage, I will be rooting for him in this fight. Vera does not like fighting anymore. I’m not sure what happened, but he used to go in there and finish his opponents. Silva is still hungry for that title shot that was derailed by Lyoto Machida. Vera has a very technical kickboxing, but Silva’s hunger will win him this fight. Silva is a decent striker, but has a lot of heart and determination. Silva will daze Vera in the 2nd Rd. with punches, and finish him on the ground.
Silva via TKO – Rd. 2.
Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi – This could be the Fight of the Night. We saw a glimpse of the old Gomi after he KOd Tyson Griffin. But, is he really back? Guida is the perfect match-up for Gomi, as Gomi has a lot of success with wrestlers like Kawajiri. Guida is just like Kawajiri. I’m hoping that Guida has worked on his stand-up defense on his training camp for this fight. Guida needs to take this fight to the ground, where Gomi is weakest. It’s hard for me to see how Guida can win this fight, except for having better cardio than Gomi.
Gomi via KO – Rd. 2.
Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim – This should be a fun ground match, as both fighters are technical on the floor. Kim needs to stay on top of Diaz and avoid the submission attempts that will come his way. Diaz likes to be on the bottom, but he has to catch Kim with something, otherwise, the score card will favor Kim. I see Kim winning a hard fight as he will be able to avoid all the submission attempts and control Diaz from the top.
