Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez (HW Title Match) – Brock Lesnar is a great champion, and a phenomenal wrester with a lot of heart, ask Shane Carwin. But, Lesnar’s biggest weakness is his stand-up skills. Lesnar should take this fight to the ground, or he will get KOd. Velasquez is the smaller fighter, but packs a lot of power behind his punches. He is also very fast, and an NCAA wrestler. Velasquez has the skills and the confidence to beat Lesnar. If the fight goes to the ground (I don’t think it will), Velasquez will stall and wait for the referee to stand the fight.
Velasquez via TKO – Rd. 1
Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann – Kampmann has been waiting for a title shot for a long time, and this is his chance. But, it won’t be a walk in the park. Shields, fresh out of STRIKEFORCE, is an amazing grappler, with a strong determination. In his last outing, Shields was hurt by Dan Henderson’s infamous right overhand, but recovered and went on to win the fight. While Kampmann’s ground game has improved immensely (see Paulo Thiago fight), I still think that Shields has the edge on the ground. So, as Kampmann said in our interview, the key to winning this fight is takedown-defense. If Kampmann can keep this fight standing, he will win. Kampmann will surprise a lot of people, win this fight, and get a title shot.

Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago – This one is a little hard to call as both fighters are similar. Thiago’s striking is a little better, and on the ground, they are even. Both fighters will keep this standing, and I see Thiago winning by edging Sanchez in the stand-up. But, there won’t be a finish in this fight.

Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Hamill – This will be a fight between two wrestlers. Although, I can see Hamill wanting to keep this fight standing, as he has the advantage in that area. Ortiz will go for the takedown and succeed. But, Hamill should be able to get back up. Hamill’s age and determination will be a factor in this fight. He can win by keeping this fight standing.

Brendan Schaub vs. Gabriel Gonzaga – Schaub is a decent fighter, but he won’t do well against the experienced Gabriel Gonzaga. Gonzaga is better in every aspect of the game. Schaub needs a good strategy to beat Gonzaga, because Gonzaga’s camp lacks the ability to formulate good fight plans. Gonzaga will tag Schaub with a good punch, and finish him on the ground.
Gonzaga by TKO.
