Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn – In their first fight, I didn’t give Edgar a chance. Some might give that match to Penn, but the judges disagreed. Now, Penn gets his chance to prove to the fans that Edgar’s win was a fluke. Was it really a fluke? I don’t think so. Penn is a super talented fighter, but when things don’t go his way, he starts to lose focus. As he was fighting Edgar, it seemed like his mind was somewhere else. This time around, things will be different. Penn will be more aggressive, but patient at the same time. Penn will out-strike Edgar, and maybe take him to the ground. I picked Penn to win the first fight, and I still pick Penn to win the rematch. What can I say? I’m stubborn.

Randy Couture vs. James Toney – This must be a joke, but that’s what I said about the KIng Mo/ Calvacante fight last week. Boy, was I wrong! But, I still think that this will be a circus of a fight. Toney’s only chance at winning is through a lucky punch. Couture knows Toney’s game, and he will not play it. Couture will immediately go for a takedown, and once on the ground, the 42-yearl-old Toney’s run for MMA glory will be over. We might see Couture’s first armbar.
Couture by armbar – Rd. 1
Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard – A classic match-up between a jj guy and a wrestler. Maynard has impressive wrestling, but he has nothing that Florian isn’t ready for. Florian has fought tougher opponents, and accomplished wrestlers like Joe Stevenson. Florian did lose to Sean Sherk, but I don’t think that Maynard is nowhere near Sherk’s calibre in terms of wrestling. Florian will do his usual Muay Thai, then once Maynard shows fatigue, Florian will go for the finish, probably a RNC.
Florian by RNC – Rd. 3
Damian Maia vs. Mario Miranda – Based on experience, Maia should win this fight. And, lasting five rounds against Anderson Silva must be a confidence builder. Miranda is an up-comer in the UFC, with a 10-1 MMA record. I don’t know much about him, so it’s hard to tell. It seems like he might be a striker, which is Maia’s weak point. But, Maia has been there against the best. Unless, he drops the ball the way he did against Marquardt, he should be able to take Miranda to the ground, and finish him off easily.
Maia via Triangle – Rd. 1
Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis – Two fighters that aren’t going anywhere in their careers. Diaz is a talented JJ guy, but lacks stand-up skills. Davis is more of an all-around fighter, but Diaz’s JJ is way more polished. Davis will want to box Diaz, but Davis isn’t known for KOs either, so eventually this fight will hit the ground with Diaz in the guard. Davis will make a mistake and get caught in a Triangle.

Watched all the main card fights from UFC 118 here in Swedish Television, but haven’t seen the Joe Lauzon against Gabe Ruediger fight. Since it won submission of the night it would have been a good fight to watch i guess. Anyway Nate Diaz did a superb job.
