Attended the blu ray community screening for the Dark Knight where Christopher Nolan was answering questions from the fans. To tell you the truth, most questions could have been answered by watching the behind the scenes featurettes. Some questions had obvious answers such as:
“Why do you think Ledger’s performance as the Joker is so beloved by critics and fans alike”
and
“How was it shooting in Chicago”
I wish they didn’t filter the questions too badly. I was really wondering about the inconsistencies about the movie such as Batman always getting knocked out while being perfectly fine falling from his penthouse while rescuing Rachel. Most of the questions he answered were for behind the scenes.
While the questions were mostly fluff, there were some interesting moments that happened during the screening.
– One guy proposed to his girlfriend and she said YES!
– Called Eric Roberts one of the great actors for his generation.
– Hired Michael Jai White to show that Joker can go against the bigger thugs
– The hospital blowing up with Heath Ledger in the front, playing around with the detonator was planned. I’ve read from various sources that it wasn’t.
and last but not least
– Nolan said “Two Face Story Has Been Told”. So he’s officially dead and the internet can stop debating whether he’ll be back for the third film. While some people had valid points why he’s still alive, I always thought he was already dead.
It was a unique experience but it would have been easier if he did a commentary instead of reading the text for two and a half hours. I’ll post the chat transcript if WB releases it.
