Turning TV Cartoons Into Live Action Movies.

I’m sure that I, like a lot of people have found a good amount of movies that have come from being TV shows. Some of the current favorites of the 80’s/90’s genre are Transformers and G.I. Joe. The two cartoon/comic book properties spent years as popular animations which had countless viewers sitting in front of the television waiting to see the adventures of their favorite heroes and villains.

With numerical figures, ticket sales and crowds being the way to gauge if any of these cartoons brought to life in live action movies were any good, they are not always accurate. Waiting for the movie to end and seeing the reaction of the viewer on their way to the car is more along the lines of gauging the success of a TV cartoon reborn into live action.

One of the most underrated cartoons to live action is “The Flintstones Movie” I can’t see why some people hated it or would hate it in the first place. This movie won awards and was pretty successful for being–at the time a 34 year old property. Flintstones used just about everything from the cartoon and didn’t butcher the concept of the show either, it was almost like watching the cartoon come to life!
A million other animated into live action could take some pointers from The Flintstones movie.

With word of a second G.I. Joe movie in the works, one has to wonder if it’ll be any good. Will G.I. Joe 2 be good until the last 15 minutes like the first one or will it just suck from beginning to end. Some people think that because the writers (you need 2 of them?) Are from “Zombieland” it will automatically be a smash. Well, even if the story is good and cartoon accurate, the special effects might ruin it? Who knows???

DBGT Turning TV Cartoons Into Live Action Movies.

Die-hard fans of Dragonball were screaming after seeing the bomb in theaters–or in commercials. Why would something so loved by so many be turned into a joke? I personally liked GT, but the sweatshop Anime dragged on forever–it should have at least gotten a good live action movie.

My personal complaint is Avatar: The last Airbender (don’t get the titles mixed up!)  The cartoon which played on Nickelodeon was excellent!  With great animation/art and great stories (except for the mid-series movie where all the goodies get their asses kicked by the baddies) it was a great show, including the last episode.  The live action movie on the other hand was described as: the commercials or trailer were the only things close to the cartoon, the movie was out there.  Great explanation from a die-hard fan, and what a shame too, it was a great series.

There are a ton of animated to live action movies out there, the list is almost endless. Reader, tell us about what you liked and didn’t like and why in the comments section below, we’d love to hear from you!
