Transformers Prime: Ultimate Bumblebee; DVD Review!

From SHOUT! Factory KIDS and Hasbro is the Walmart special, “Ultimate Bumblebee.”  Featuring four episodes on DVD starring the little yellow sports car.  Fans can discover some of the more interesting episodes through the following: “Masters and Students” shows a learning relationship between Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. In the two part episode “Operation Bumblebee,” a group of human technology thieves take Bumblebee’s ‘organ’ that allows him to transform; causing somewhat of a war between regaining the part and fighting the Decepticons for artifacts that would overpower the Autobots.  The final episode, “Deadlock” which was part of the ‘Beast Hunters’ series and what appears to be the last episode of the series takes the viewer to the conclusion of the Autobot scouts journey.

Featuring an all-star cast for a television cartoon, “Transformers Prime” brings back Peter Cullen and Frank Welker from the original 80’s series and a plethora of well-known actors to voice the other characters in the series.

I’m not a huge fan of CG, but the animation used in “Transformers Prime” is pretty clean and looks nice on any video setup. The sound is standard and is as good as your speakers can handle.

No extras are included and apparently, the stop button is forbidden on the disk in the Menu…but what’s it matter, just hit eject.

Selling at Walmart on Tuesday February 25th 2014 for $9.99 retail, I’d recommend this for fans who want a quick showing of enjoyable episodes; however, its always best to have complete season sets.

GRADE: A- (Its enjoyable to watch, however, if the same episodes are eventually going to be on the complete season sets, then it might be best to wait for that; however, the price is low enough to not really care).
