Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand: DVD Review!

TF PRIME 1 720x1024 Transformers Prime One Shall Stand: DVD Review!

From Hasbro and Shout Factory comes Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand on DVD. Transformers Prime is the current animated program featuring everyone’s favorite transforming robots! Animated in CGI, the details of the robots are great; however Optimus Prime has the most detail down to scratched paint. With favorite characters appearing such as Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet and Arcee, the Autobots battle the Decepticons for control of the Earth.

Transformers Prime follows in TF Animated’s footsteps with Megatron being very tough and difficult to defeat—I think after TF Armada where the Decepticons would run when Optimus Prime came by, made the writers of both Prime and Animated turn Megatron into a force to be reckoned with. Megaton is joined by Soundwave, Arachnid (Black Arachnia) and sometimes Starscream.

Transformers Prime-One Shall Stand is a compilation of seven episodes of the Unicron and Orion Pax story arc. This DVD has been edited together perfectly to turn it into a 3 hour movie that pretty much keeps the viewers attention from beginning to end.

The story itself is well-written and gives most of the characters some time on camera. The characters are voiced by a lot of familiar names such as Steve Blum (Spike in Cowboy Bebop), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, OZ) and others of note. Peter Cullen returns as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker as a softer spoken Megatron. TF Prime is quite a fan based animation and great voices bring the characters to life.

The picture quality of the DVD is nice and clean, the audio track is as good as your speakers can handle and features a very riveting score. The extras include interviews and an animatic.

Although Transformers Prime is based on the movies which I can’t stand and I really don’t like CGI animation, I actually enjoyed watching this “movie.” I thought the music was great and of the characters; I liked how Arcee was portrayed—she was small, but fought with heart. Soundwave didn’t have any lines, but his actions spoke louder than words in a short battle with Arachnid.

I recommend this DVD to fans of Transformers Prime and also to anyone who wants to see what the show is like if they don’t have the HUB channel. Fans of the original Transformers would enjoy it for the original voice actors continuing to portray Optimus Prime and Megatron.

All-in-all, Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand is very entertaining; action packed and features characters that you would actually care about—even if most of them are just robots.

Own it on DVD July 31, 2012 with a SRP of about $15.00—well worth it.
