WWE Slam Attax 1 Trading Card Review: WWE Slam Attax

Wrestling giant WWE and trading card giant Topps came together to produce a fun game called WWE Slam Attax that should please wresling fans, especially younger ones. The game is quite easy to play and the cards are impressive as two players go head to head. The game is already a massive hit in Europe and I expect the same here in the US. There are a total of 186 cards to collect that include 130 game cards, 16 champion cards, 19 finishing move cards, 11 title cards, and 10 prop cards. It’s especially cool that Topps and the WWE have included wrestling legends. The kids will have no idea who these past superstars are but it will make for a great conversation between older and younger fans. I can see fathers playing the game with their sons while explaining who each rassler is and their place in WWE history. 8 cards are in each pack and the cards have a slick and glossy look. Photography of the wrestling superstars is first-class as well.

The matchplay option cards are also cool as I’m a big fan of ladder matches myself. The rules are quite basic and easy to pick up on and come in 7 easy steps:

1) Slam Attax is a game for 2 players. The aim is to win as many rounds as you can and beat your opponent. Just follow these rules and tips, and you’ll be a Slam Attax champion in no time!

2) Lay your superstars face down in 3 rows or 3. Place on Prop Card to the side. Display a PPV, a Match Type and a Title Card to capture all of the excitement of a WWE live event! Decide who goes first by flipping a coin.

3) [Player 1] Attack with any face down Slam Attax card. [Player 2] Defend with any face down Slam Attax card.

4) Compare Player 1’s Slam Attax card attack strength to Player 2’s Slam Attax card defense strength. The higher number is the winner. (The winning Player keeps the losing player’s Slam Attax card and returns his/her winning card to the Playmat face-up)

5) The winning player from the previous round chooses his/her card for round 2 first, but this time to defend – not attack. Player 2 chooses his/her Slam Attax attack card. The winner is determined in the same fashion as in Step 4.

6) You can use one Prop Card per game, the star rating from your Prop Card gets added onto your Superstars’ score in attack or defense. Prop cards can only be used on regular cards.

7) After 9 rounds, all the cards have been played and the player with the highest score is the winner.

There’s also a set of rules if you want to play “extreme rules”, which is basically the same game, with a few simple modifications:

You can only use:
1 special Champion card, 1 special Finishing Move card, 1 Prop card

You must use:
At least 1 RAW, SmackDown and ECW card, which includes 1 Diva. All cards must add up to no more than 40 stars in total.

Slick, appealing and fun, WWE Slam Attax is an instantly addictive game for young and old fans. The appeal is immense and the game is simple and addictive to play. I recommend that each player buy the starter kit first and then add to their collection by picking up individual packs at all your favorite local toy and hobby stores. The cards are also readily available online and at the WWE.com shopzone website.
