The A-Team Movie

My coworkers told me at lunch that the A-Team is being made to a movie.  They were hating on it but I was excited about the news.  I love the TV show.  I watched the show everyday when I was a kid.  Sure, the story was the same, but it was the chemistry between the main actors that made it so entertaining.

I checked out imdb.com and learned that Joe Carnahan (Smokin Aces, Narc) is directing the movie.  Not a big fan of his because of the tone of his movies; sometimes he makes it too serious with unrealistic endings and his annoying editing style.  With the A-Team, they’re going for a serious tone similar to Mission Impossible 3 and I hope Carnahan can pull it off without being too artsy. Carnahan was originally the first director chosen for MI: 3 but was replaced with J.J. Abrams after he had creative differences with Tom Cruise.

The confirmed casts include Liam Neeson as Hannibal and Bradley Cooper (douchebag in Wedding Crashers and currently a douchebag in Hangover) as the pretty boy, Faceman.  The rumored casts are Common as B.A. Barracus and Woody Harrelson as Murdock.  Besides Common, that’s a pretty damn good cast.  To be fair, Common was pretty good in Smokin Aces, which Carnahan directed.  Anything with Liam Neeson is a must see for me!

Another good news for this project is that Ridley Scott is producing the movie.  The rumored story for the movie is that the team is a  former special military force trying to clear their names once they retire.  So hopefully, Ridley will make the actors go to a boot camp so they’ll be believable as military guys.  Scott did this well with the actors in my favorite movie, Black Hawk Down.

The A-Team will be released next summer.
