I had an awesome 30-inch Sony CRT but it just wasn’t as grand when compared to John Spartan’s 40-inch LCD. I mean when you’re watching Transformers, it’s just more epic on a bigger screen. I decided to get a plasma because the blacks are darker compared to LCD’s but it cost about $300 more. I ordered it online and I finally got it yesterday.
I’ll let the pictures tell the story of what happened next:
As you can see, the inside screen was broken but the outer one was fine and intact. From the outside, the box looked fine but as you get inside the package, I noticed that the styrofoams were broken. I didn’t think much of it until I took out the tv from the box.
I blame UPS for this mess. One guy delivered it to my second floor apartment using a dolly, when there should have been two guys carrying the damn package. I was told every time he went up a step, the packaged banged violently. If I was home when it was delivered I would have helped him out and maybe the TV would have been saved. I was reading more horror stories about UPS from other message boards and I guess their priority is to ship packages as fast as possible. Doesn’t matter how they do it, as long as it gets there on time. So workers would just throw boxes around even when it specifically says “Fragile” on the box. I’m guessing to them, it’s probably more reason for the workers to slam it around.
I contacted the online vendor and they’re sending me another one. This time it’ll be shipped “freight”, which is supposedly more safer. I specifically told them where the TV could have been damaged so we’ll see if UPS steps up and will be more cautious this time. The vendor also told me to take pictures of the packaging and the damage product so UPS can pay them. I thought I might as well share the picture with you guys so you can see how shitty UPS can be.
What did brown do for me? A whole lot of disappointment and at least another week of waiting before I get a bigger TV.

That’s really a mess, it looks like it was returned and resealed the way the Styrofoam was in the box and that there wasn’t any (white) padded covering like a “bag” on it. If the Panasonic box has 2 layers of tape or any signs of tearing to the box around it–it might not have been UPS completely. This is my opinion from 16 years in retail–ten of those dealing with TV’s.
That’s sick, I think I would go nuts! UPS does toss packages onto my porch over the gate, so I’m sure part of it is them–at least making it worse.

At least there not gonna give you the run around and there just sending you another TV. Kudos to the website for that, when I got a empty Modern Warfare 2 case from game stop I had to call damn near the entire company….then activison, before they replaced my game.
