An emo kid named Shinji and his two hot sexy female copilots fend off Angels (invaders) in the 1994 released anime, Evangelion. What Eva offered was a new perspective on the surreal conflux of metaphors, symbols, and subtext, unlike most Japanimation of its time.
“Good anime”
“Ending sucked”.
In the end most of the fans loved it but some were torn over the way its final episodes were handled, yatayataya!
WHAT you may not know
More then a decade later, Gainax(The same company that graced us with Evangelion) brings us another fantastic anime in the big robot genre. What makes this anime really really great is that it attracted old school hardcore and new anime fans. Its constant throw backs and tribute’s to the big robot anime are something praised by the old fans of this genre.
While the new fans are attracted to Gainax’s modern animation.
New fans will also get over the top action that will grow with them in good time. The main characters are quite charismatic and display some of the strongest archetypes in anime making them real easy to appeal to anime fans.
In the next article, I’ll be discussing the characters and main plot of Gainax and the tribute it pays to its predecessor, Evangelion.
