Getting an ipod touch was probably the best gift I’ve ever gotten in my life. It’s advertised as a touch screen Mp3 player but it does so much more. If you have a wireless router (you can get a good linksys router for 50 bucks or so), you can get online with it and use the touch anywhere in your house. A lot of places also have free, unlocked wifi connections for you to go to surf the web as well. Everywhere from your local library, to Mcdonalds, to that hipster coffee bar downtown has free wifi these days. If you just need a music player, you’re probably fine with an ipod shuffle or nano, but if you want a tech toy that surfs the web, plays games, and generally kicks ass, the ipod touch is for you.
You just got an ipod touch and you want to protect it (a good idea since it costs around 200 bucks), the first thing to do is get a good, protective hard case for it. You’re tempted to go online to apple.com to get an “official” case like I did. Their cases are nice but run like 30 bucks a pop, which is far too expensive for hard plastic or alumnium. Your best bet is going to a discount store like Marshalls or Five Below and getting a case there. I found a hard case for 7.99 at Marshalls and my 30 dollar case is on its way back to Steve Jobs for a refund. You should also get screen protectors, especially if you plan to play lots of apps, which I do. The other nice thing obviously is the portability of the Ipod touch. I can’t see someone wanting to drag that stupid ipad around with them, but the ipod touch fits in a pocket or purse easily.
The video quality is excellent on the ipod touch and there’s tons of free apps including a free AIM that works surprisingly well and makes having an IM conversation on the ipod easy and even fun. I’ve downloaded some free and paid apps and I’ll be back from time to time with App reviews. I love the free Facebook app, its interactive and easy to use and post your status updates and comments. Facebook fans will want to get that app immediately upon ipod purchase. My first review will be The Simpsons Arcade App, a faithful and fun version of the old button masher for your ipod touch. The graphics are colorful and the game itself is a lot of fun. What apps would you like me to review ? Comment below or give me a list of your favorite apps.
The Ipod Touch is pricey yet addictive and fun. If you want the ultimate tech toy and music player and enjoy playing games and surfing the web with ease, the Ipod Touch is highly recommended.

I dont think so………it does use google maps but without wifi you’d be on your own out on the road. You can buy the gangstar app, which plays like a fun Grand Theft Auto ripoff.
I highly recommend it and will be doing app reviews in the near future :).
