Vintage Toy Of The Month: The A-Team!

Vintage Toy Of The Month: The A-Team!

Possibly the most vintage toy selection shown on NERDSociety.com.  The A-Team action figures–provided by a friend of mine (thank you)–are marked 1983 and have the vintage feel of being on their last legs.  However, we won’t let wobbly legs, chipping paint and missing accessories get in the way of these awesome vintage pieces!

The A-Team was one hell of an interesting show when I was growing up in the 80’s, it had all the …

Vintage Toy Of The Month: M.A.S.K. (Paladin’s Remix)!

Vintage Toy Of The Month: M.A.S.K. (Paladin’s Remix)!

Back in 2009 Cricket had reviewed my M.A.S.K. collection as a vintage toy. My photos were sub-par and I wasn’t even a writer on the NERDSociety.com website.

See link:  http://www.nerdsociety.com/vintage-toy-of-the-week-mask/

Now in 2013, the last Vintage Toy of the Month for December, I will reprise M.A.S.K., my favorite playthings from when I was a kid!

M.A.S.K. or Mobile Armored Strike Kommand was a toy and cartoon series in the early to mid 80’s that included a short lived comic and mini comics that came in most boxes.

There are multiple stories for MASK, the cartoon had the leader, Matt Trakker as …

Vintage Toy of the Month! Captain Planet’s Dr. Blight!

Vintage Toy of the Month! Captain Planet’s Dr. Blight!

Remember when it was cool to protect the planet? Where our greatest resource was Earth itself and poor rainforests were being wiped out entirely? How were we going to breathe? We needed a savior. A hero that was ready to save Earth, the ultimate damsel in constant distress. Jesus was busy. Al Gore was still knee deep in the internet. Enter: Captain Planet and the Planeteers!!!

Captain Planet and the Planeteers was an interesting cartoon. I can’t think of any other time in my life when I wanted to defend Earth from pollution more. What better way to do that then …

Vintage Toy of the Month! Voltron’s Allura

Vintage Toy of the Month! Voltron’s Allura

NerdSociety is proud to be bringing back a thrilling feature where vintage toys get their respective due every month! In honor of her release and subsequent sell out on Mattycollector.com this morning, I thought it would be fun to check out the original Princess Allura from Voltron: Defender of the Universe!

0101 683x1024 Vintage Toy of the Month! Voltrons Allura

Released in 1984 by Panosh Place, Princess Allura came packed with her helmet, blue Lion Key, and the figure herself. The front card featured wonderful art of Allura to the side with a cool space theme in the background. The Voltron title was also emblazoned across the top. I also …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Super Ninja and “Friends.”

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Super Ninja and “Friends.”

NN1 1024x768 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Super Ninja and Friends.

Month’s back Chuck Norris was featured as a vintage toy, so I thought I would introduce his nemesis, Super Ninja. The “Karate Kommandos” led by Chuck had to face the purple clad Super Ninja and his ninja soldiers. His foot claw was a deadly weapon along with his fancy sword (which I no longer have.) The red and black ninja soldiers each came with nunchuks and a butterfly sword. The soldiers action was a wind-up karate chop and Super Ninja turned at the waist and could kick.

The black ninja that looks like Super Ninja is unknown to me. I don’t …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

Gumby 1 1024x801 Vintage Toy Of The Week: Gumby!

A lot of great things came out of 1957, the Chevy Bel air, Chevy Corvette, and Gumby. Although Gumby is far from being a car, his bendable body would allow you to form him into one.
Made of green rubber with no other features except his eyes, mouth and a nose, Gumby is embedded with wire that allows him to be posed for the stop-motion animation that made him famous.

The clay-mation cartoon featured Gumby and his friends, Pokey his orange horse, Prickle a yellow dinosaur, Goo a blue bird and Denali a woolly mammoth. They would …
