The Vintage Toy of the Month is long overdue for the month of August. After being on the market for a few months, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures seem to be selling well. Made by Playmates, these figures have very nice cartoon detail and a ton of articulation considering that in the past, the figures had minimal, standard articulation.

Starting with the Turtles, each figure is packaged in a great card and bubble with CG cartoon artwork and a turtle shell imprinted pattern on the bubble. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael look great on the cards for those who collect mint on card.

Coming soon to DVD is Volume One of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation. Featuring 13 episodes of the live action series on two disks and brought to you by SHOUT Factory.

Ninja Turtles is a very weird show; made by Saban who brought us Power Rangers. I’d go on to say that it’s cheesy and such, but I think that is obvious just by the DVD box art.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, and Playmates is pulling out all the stops for a totally tubular TMNT toy line to coincide with a new cartoon set to debut on Nickelodeon in the fall. Since all the attention will undoubtedly go towards the fab four, I thought it would be great to take a look at the brand new April O’Neil figure. April has had more reinventions than Madonna, and this newest version does not disappoint.
