Last night concluded the final episode of season 5 of Supernatural. The show had finally lead up to the battle between good and evil in the hopes of preventing the Apocalypse. A heart wrenching episode that left many fans wanting more and confused. Is Chuck God? Is that Sam or Lucifer? and most importantly what happens now?
Back in February of this year CW Network renewed the series for another season. Show creator Eric Kripke confirmed that he will not return to run the show for a 6th season. Both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki will return since they have six year contracts. Padalecki stated that if the show is no longer compelling after a possible sixth season, that he will not return for another season. Which might happen?
Last night’s episode was quite possibly the best and the worst episode. The show did a great job of building it up to this point but what was delivered was nothing more than an excuse to keep the show going. So many things changed but by the end of the show they were all null and void. I haven’t felt so cheated out of ending since I watched all the 6 seasons of InuYasha which left me cursing at my TV.
Next season will return the show to it’s original format of close-ended episodes as well as a story arc that involves the brothers relationship. Which makes it even more lame, how could they not end it on halting of the Apocalypse? Doesn’t that seem like a great way to end the show, why drag it on further? The reason why the show was brought the show back for another season was because of the ratings increase which translates into money. Anytime a show continues for money over the progression of story usually ends up leaving a bad taste in your mouth, hence Scrubs season 9.

But Cass hit the nail on the head when he told Dean that this is what they wanted; more of the same. Sam and Dean’s whole purpose this season was to stop the Apocalypse. To have Michael and Lucifer fight would have meant that the boys lost and why would we take this journey with them only to see them lose.
