Superman Saves Real House

Superman might only appear in comics and movies but he saved a real family from losing their house.  A family from the south was struggling with mortgage payments and they were cleaning out their house preparing to be evicted when they found a box of comics.  One of the comics turned out to be Action Comics #1!  The family contacted Metropolis Comics, who has done rare comic auctions before.  At first, Metropolis dismissed it since so many people submit comics that aren’t original or first pressing.  The family sent a picture to confirm that it was the real deal.  Vincent Zurzolo, co owner of Metropolis Comics and representing the family said:

“”Literally, this family was in tears. The family home was going to be lost and they’re devastated. They can’t figure out a way out of this. They start packing things up. They go into the basement and start sifting through boxes – trying to find packing boxes – and they stumble on eight or nine comic books.  You couldn’t have asked for a happier ending.”

The family and Zurzolo was able to convince a bank to get them a loan and pay off the debts after showing them the comic, “We sent them information about our previous sales and what this could realize,” Zurzol added.

If you have $250k laying around, the auction will be at ComicConnect.com from Aug. 27 through Sept. 17.
