To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku, Sony has announced that it will be releasing a limited edition Walkman in Japan which will have Hatsune Miku’s profile on the back and her image in the wallpaper on the screen.
There will be three models to choose from: a blue, a black and a blue with speakers. Each Walkman will come with Miku’s song “Hoshi no kakera” preloaded. It will also come with her image embellished on a neckstrap.
Sony will only be releasing 3,939 units which is believed to be a play on the Japanese pronunciation of “39” which is Miku. The items will be available for purchase from the Sony online store and in Japan mid-August and will retail between $160 – $200 US dollars.

…And like the Miku PSP, it’ll cost $800.00 on Ebay. I want one, badly–it’s just not fair!

ha! I had a feeling they’d be really expensive on ebay, especially since there’s less than 4,000 being made and they’re only coming out in Japan…
