The National Board of Review for films has picked David Fincher’s Social Network as the film of the year, citing as best film, best actor (Jesse Eisenberg), and best screenplay.
Okay, I enjoyed this film just like the next guy, but winning an award as best film sounds silly. The film was entertaining but not without flaws. Firstly, many parts of the film were fictionalized to make it more dramatic, so don’t think that building a billion dollar company is that straight forward. Secondly, Justin Timberlake’s character is just annoying, what’s with the plastic-looking face. Why does Fincher insist on adding special effects to things that don’t need it?
There you go, a good movie with a good message (don’t be a social proof junkie), but not Award worthy.
