Smallville was a bit uneven, but overall another good episode. The awesome villain Deadshot (who sadly, was in the episode all too briefly) appeared in the episode and displayed a menacing charm. He was shot perfectly from low angles like a baddie in an old western. Lois Lane has packed up and moved overseas and Cat Grant has started at the Daily Planet. The opening scenes establish her as a republican go-getter (reminding me instantly of girls I attended college with) who hates heroes and sees herself as a truth-teller who would be right at home on FOX News. Keri Lynn Pratt does a nice job playing her, as we see her icy walls break down, as her views on costumed heroes start to change (or maybe not, lol) and she sees what a great guy Clark really is. The final shot of Clark in his new red leather jacket suit standing with American flags waving behind him was so iconic, it made up for many of the minor flaws of the episode. My one major complaint is it seemed like a waste to bring back Hawkman (and the fan boys are already mad he wasn’t in costume) just to babysit Lois. They teased Hawkgirl, and hopefully she will be on as the ancient lovers reunite on a future episode. Next week brings back the popular Supergirl, who has a dire warning about the evil that is coming callled Darkseid, and she brings along her own new costume.
Grade: B+

This episode was definitely a filler. It was good to see a live-action version of Deadshot, but he was underused. I was rather bored seeing Hawkman brood about his beloved wife (which he had already did in his debut episode).

That jacket kinda looks like the one Ben Affleck wore in Daredevil.
