Bill Clinton seems to think the show is great. According to a press release, the former US president said “What an amazing and historic night on Broadway. New York has never seen anything like Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark and I am very proud of them for not giving up, it was fabulous.”
Bono and Edge of U2, who wrote songs for the show, were there for the opening night festivities. Bono had to say this about the show: “Wow, what a sense of achievement tonight. Some people won’t like it. Some people want to kill us. ” Wait, some people will want to kill them? Like after watching the show?
Sesame Street couldn’t help but have some fun at Spiderman: Turn off the Dark’s expense. Clearly making light of all the production problems the show has experienced since its inception, Sesame Street has Grover flying out into the audience and landing on the same (well, the only) theater patron repeatedly. Hey, you know you’ve arrived when you get spoofed by Sesame Street. Here is the video:
