This idea has been bouncing around for close to a year now. First it was thought that Renner might play Captain America in the Avengers movie. Then he says no but he might be playing Hawkeye instead. We know now that Chris Evans is Captain America in the movie of the same name, and according to IMDB, Renner is definitely playing Hawkeye in The Avengers, along with Scar Jo as Black Widow, the aforementioned Evans, Robert Downey Jr. as Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as yet another Bruce Banner, Don Cheadle as War Machine, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Also, according to Hollywood Spy, they’re debating whether to include another female character in the movie besides Black Widow. Speculation has it that it will be the character Wasp but still no word as to who will be playing her. This fan poster has Twilight’s feelgood vampire Ashley Green in the role.
Late last year during an interview Renner said: “If I was a betting man, I would bet that Hawkeye would probably show up in ‘Thor’, and then be in The Avengers. But do I know for sure? I can’t say. But I’d love for that to happen. It’d be fun.” (Big speculation from a guy who didn’t even know if he was playing the part for sure yet… or did he?) Then like a month later, Renner backpedals on the red carpet while being interviewed by MTV News at the Gotham awards: “They thought it was a pretty good idea. They’re not sure if they’re going to put [Clint] into ‘Thor’ at all, so it might be later on. It’s two years away. They still have to do ‘Captain America,’ they still have to do ‘Thor’ … and ‘Iron Man 2’ and all those things. But I’d be honored. I think it would be fun.” Then he tells Moviefone that “That was just one of those things that got blown way out of proportion.”
So here we are a year later and now the rumour mill is spinning again. The Wrap seems to be pretty confident that Renner’s Hawkeye appears in Thor, although their contact (who supposedly saw some footage) “declined to elaborate on the context of the character’s appearance or when it will occur. They did, however, confirm Jackson’s earlier statements that Nick Fury does not appear in Thor.” I guess we’ll just have to wait until May to find out for sure…

This Avengers movie that Marvel wants made might doom their franchise titles. They’re sacrificing the quality of movies ie Iron Man 2 so Avengers will be ready by next year. But in the end, will people be really excited about the movie?

That might depend on how well-made Thor and Captain America are.
