After Guillermo Del Toro left the project, it seemed like The Hobbit was doomed. But, as many fans had hoped for, Peter Jackson may take over Del Toro’s role as director. Although, Jackson’s team hasn’t announced anything official, Deadline reports that this is the route that MGM and WB wants to take. However, other reports indicated that the studios were also looking into other directors, such as District-9’s Neill Blomkamp.

Afterwards, Jackson did Lovely Bones, although, it was visually appealing, the movie was nothing to write home about. So, is it really best that he directs The Hobbit?
