Perhaps, if MGM gets back on its feet after filing bankruptcy, there is a chance that they might push the project. Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream) will be directing The Wolverine next, but is very interested in remaking Robocop.
Hmm, I did enjoy the first Robocop because of the action sequences, but mainly because it was dark and somewhat sad. Aronofsky’s The Wrester was pretty dark too, and I really liked the feel of the film. So, I think he can pull it off. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that MGM gives Robocop a go.

Aronofsky was told he was a genius after Pi and Requiem For A Dream and although they were great movies his idea for Batman was a frig’in nightmare. The “wire” tells tales of Bruce being poor and the Batmobile would be some piece of junk fixed up by his streetwise, wisecracking mechanic Alfie. He is probably the last person who should be touching Robocop which was a gore-filled masterpiece that showed how evil the corporations were in the Reagan era–although corporations are far more evil now, Murphy could gun down some oil tycoons.
I’d go to the Canadian company that made the Robocop television series which was quite good over an indie director who wanted to re-imagine Batman into something flat-out stupid.

But, Robocop was somewhat of a depressing film, so I think it fits with Aronosfsky’s directing style.

Robocop is a product of the 80s. Th political satire is what made it so brilliant. The one word that comes to mind to describe the remake is unnecessary. Black Swan looks good though.

Robocop was a little depressing at times, but it was mostly a dark comedy. Anyone who didn’t find the part where Murphy shot the dude in the nuts through a female hostages (or soon to be rape victims) skirt, funny; has problems.
Other funny parts involve the group of baddies gathered around with their new luxury cars and giant guns taking pot-shots at (whatever). …and yeah, it’s a bunch of political satire with a ton of dark comedy.
So, unnecessary is definitely a good word to describe a remake of Robocop.
Lack of originality and talent describes most of Hollywood. Which is a shame.
