Contains SPOILERS. So, for the 3 of you that hasn’t seen the Dark Knight, don’t read this article.
Just before I go on my rant I want to let you guys know that I love Batman. I’ve watched the movies, the animated series, read the comics and own the graphic novels. Some of you guys have seen my action figure collection and most of the majority are Batman. I have figures from Kotobukiya to Mattel’s DC Superheroes line. And I loved Batman Begins, the best comic book movie of all time.
I was checking out IMDB.com (my source for upcoming movies) and Dark Knight has the highest rating for any movie. Dark Knight wouldn’t even be on my top 10 greatest movies of all time. It’s good but its not great like many fanboys make it out to be. I have valid points why the the movie wasn’t great (they should have focused on Joker than Two Face at the end. Scarecrow was useless and didn’t need to be in the sequel. Gordon faking his own death, etc. ). When I tell fanboys my point of view, I’m suddenly “nitpicking” and a “hater”. If that’s the best argument the fanboys can make, then I rest my case. I really wanted Dark Knight to top Begins but it just didn’t do it for me. I even watched Dark Knight twice. Although it was better the second time around, it still wasn’t in the same league as Begins.
I’m bitching about this because I checked out Godfather’s(#3 on IMDB, it used to be #1) message boards on IMDB and it had a lot of Dark Knight fanboys trolling. From what I gather, the fanboys are voting 1’s and 2’s (out of 10) on Godfather, while voting 10’s on Dark Knight. It’s fucking pathetic when fans are artificially inflating the ratings just so their favorite movie can be number one. That’s why Godfather moved from #1 to #3, Shawshank Redemption stayed at #2.
I have no problem if the votes weren’t “fixed” and that’s how the movie fans truely felt about Dark Knight. But the truth is, some movie goers thought it was far from perfect. But watch out Batman fans, if you thought Dark Knight wasn’t AWESOME, fanboys might start accusing you of nitpicking.
So the next time you enjoy a movie and your friend didn’t like it as much, just say he’s a hater and it will end the debate. It’s as simple as that!

Imdb.com is corrupt and I have hard evidence…..there’s a film called The Fountain (by Darren Arronsky, the talented director of Requiem for a Dream)…..this is a nearly unwatchable and boring bit of arthouse dreck but it has a very high rating on imdb.com. This is because the same people can vote multiple times. I caught one guy posting 5 !!!!!! times in one day on the film’s message board, bashing the “haters”. Even though I love The Dark Knight, it’s not the best flm of all time, it’s just my favorite film of the year.

I agree with both of you, imdb.com is very corrupt, i used to go to the website and check a movie im about to rent, or buy, or watch, to see if its worth watching but i cant do that anymore, i find that 60% of the movies rated as Crap on the site end up being very good movies, with strong story and good acting.
I too really, really, really enjoyed The Dark Knight, but it wasnt the best movie i ever saw. I do wished they would have focused on the Joker more, i kind of watched the movie to see the joker. Christian Bale has also been one of my favorite batmans thus far. I like Heath Ledger movies, so the both of them together would have been the perfect movie to me, but like i said, it was Really(x3) good, but not the best movie.
wow i need to learn to type less….

How can this top Shawshank? It’s not even comparable. And the Godfather? LOL!
