G.I. Joe is back after the 2009 movie series of action figures. Now, the Joes and Cobra are more realistic, nastier looking and have amazing detail and loads of accessories!
If you are looking for Cobra Commander, don’t bother, it’s impossible to get, so Ebay should have it for 10 times the price. The Commander is cool, but all he really is, is a repaint from the movie figure with a chromed head.
However, the Jungle Viper or better version of the Night Viper is slightly easier to acquire. This Viper is also cooler than any figure that has been produced to date–why? He has such a realism that he comes off as creepy…
Jungle Viper’s most noticeable equipment are his camouflage panels that pretty much encase his body. One of the cooler parts is the back pack which houses 5 “bladed” panels of camo. When the largest panels are open they resemble wings; each has another panel attached to broaden the span. At the top is a panel meant to shroud the head. The 6th and 7th panels are attached to his arms–all are on ball joints for maximum articulation.
Jungle Viper comes equipped with a multi-lens night vision visor, a very large sniper rifle and a pair of pistols which fit into holsters. He also has a stand which has 2 foot pegs instead of the single peg which Cobra’s have come with in the past.
When Jungle Viper is encased in the camouflage panels, his scope and rifle are just as well hidden to where he can hide in the jungle and pick off any Joes he sees–this fact makes you wonder how even the toughest of Joes can survive in the modern line of figures.
The package is great and loaded with detail. The bubble itself has slots or notches which make it really sturdy and attractive. The card, which is smaller than the original and 25th anniversary line is slightly bigger than the movie line. The card contains some cool character art, a story about what the plot is for this particular figure, the new story behind G.I. Joe and Cobra and a character ID/bio card.
All in all, the Jungle Viper is one of the best figures to come out in the line in a long time. He is perfect for troop building and excellent to consider for NOT being one of the victims in a G.I. Joe battle–with the camo and rifle, he will probably be the last one standing after the fray!
