Through NERDSociety, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to photograph one of the greatest Heavyweights in MMA, Fedor Emelianenko. I love photography, and better yet, I love MMA. So, being able to do both is like a dream come true. Not to mention that Fedor Emelianenko is considered by many to be the best Mixed Martial Artist of all time. Although, his legacy has suffered greatly in the last couple of years due to inactivity, and his management’s business play, Fedor is still one of my favorites.
Fedor has agreed to join STRIKEFORCE’s Heavy-weight tournament. He will face Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in the first round.
The photos below are from the Affliction 2 event in Anaheim, CA. My $50 seats got me pretty close to the ring, as Fedor knocks out Andrei Arlovski in the first round.
This photo was taken with film.

The photos below are from STRIKEFORCE in San Jose, CA. Fedor was defeated by the underdog, Fabricio Werdum.
I couldn’t see the fight as it hit the ground, so I took a picture of the screen. I sensed that it could end at any moment.
Fedor after the loss to Fabricio Werdum. Still very calm and collected, but obviously disappointed.
Fedor walks outside the media room, as Werdum and his team were celebrating in the hallway.
Fedor’s upcoming fight is against Antonio Silva on February 12th, 2011 as part of the STRIKEFORCE HW GP. The winner will move on to the next round.
