I’ve decided to make my life a little harder by going old school with an old Canon camera, the A-1. I’ve always been fascinated by the quality of film compared to digital. Film just looks more detailed, and crispier, especially the black & whites. The process is more tedious and expensive. Also, there’s no way to see how my pics will turn out until I develop the films, which could take weeks. But, that’s what makes it fun, the suspense. Sometimes, I feel like a robot with the digital cameras, so it’s time to mix it up a bit.
Last week, I purchased two b&w films, the Ilford 3200, and the Kodak Tmax 100. The Ilford 3200 has the highest ISO available to film. 3200 means that I can shoot in low-light conditions. Kodak Tmax 100 means that I have to shoot in bright daylight. The payoff is that the images will look clean and crisp, while with the 3200, the images will look grainy and rough. So, I bought 2 of the extremes to see the difference.
Once I get the films processed, I will post the pictures here, so you can see the difference, or lack thereof.
