Nintendo has shocked a lot of people by suddenly announcing what will be the successor to the DS (meaning it’s a “DS2”, and not just another version of the DS).
What I’ve found out so far is that it will have:
3D effects without the need for 3D glasses
backwards compatibility with DS games
motion controls (in addition to regular controls)
and that it will come out sometime during Nintendo’s next financial year (April 2010-March 2011), but my guess is that the release date for North America will be around November, just in time for the Christmas craze.
There is also a lot of speculation about what it might have, and this includes:
Two 4-inch screens (that are closer together than the current DS’ screens)
Two cameras
Graphical capabilities similar to Gamecube
a 3D joystick (I have no idea what this could be. The fact that it hasn’t been called a regular joystick has me curious)
Force feedback/vibration
What kind of 3D effect might it have?
It has been said that the screen may have a space between it and another screen (think two fences, and a space between them). Between these two screens, the visuals may occur, and give a 3D effect. I personally thought that the top and bottom screens (like the DS top and bottom screens) would shoot their visuals at each other and create a hologram between them; that would be freaking awsome. Just remember that everything in this paragraph is just speculation.
Well, it’s going to be unveiled at E3. Are you guys excited? Is it too soon for the sequel to the DS to come out?
