Cricket’s Movie Review: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

This movie was a big disappointment.  The story was all over the place and there were no real highlights.  I’m not going to talk about the plot because it’s not worth mentioning.  Remember how the first movie had some cool moments:  Scorponok battle, Prime doing a 180, Starscream taking out the military planes.  “Revenge” doesn’t even come close to scenes like that.  Michael Bay, the director, decided to super size the sequel.  More robots, more useless human characters, more corny jokes and more action.  For the audience, more means less.  Everything is so over the top that I stopped caring about the movie twenty minutes into it.  The danger that you felt for the characters in the first movie isn’t there anymore.  You’ll know that in the end, everyone will live happily ever after.

Bay decided he was going to make a movie that’ll sell more toys for Hasbro and a great recruiting tool for the military.  Maybe he gets more money that way.

I also wasn’t impressed with the action.  Even the much hype, forest battle scene was a letdown.  Some characters were too powerful, while some bots became weaklings at the end.  The size of the robots didn’t matter either when it came to their skills.  Big ass robots were taken down in 5 seconds by much smaller counterparts.

Reveng of t the Fallen sucks but at least Michael Mann’s Public Enemies comes out in less than a month.  Hopefully that’ll live up to the hype!
