Bruno Poster Movie Review Movie Review: Brüno

It’s the one thing that Sacha Baren Cohen does best, is make situations awkward. If the Borat naked fight in Borat with his producer, Azamat Bagatov, made you spill milk out of your nose, then Brüno is right up your alley.

Brüno follows the same formula as Borat in storytelling. It sets up a story and pokes fun of real people in the setting of the story. In the movie, Brüno was on top of the fashion world until he was ousted because of a Velcro incident that ruined a fashion show. Now Brüno is on a journey to reclaim his fame, whether it’d be from adopting an African kid or making a sex tape. All the ingredients are there for one big disturbing but hilarious movie.

This movie is NOT for the feint of heart, or anyone that doesn’t like to see dancing penises in their movies. The movie pokes fun at a lot of groups including straight male hunters, swingers, parents and anti-gay protesters. This movie will offend certain groups of people for sure.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. You can’t beat the scene where Brüno has his yoohoo inside his partners backdoor, spinning him around 360 degrees, or the scene where his partner is used like a slingshot to land on Brüno’s yoohoo. Bruno is one of the raunchiest comedies this year. Even though Borat did it better when it first came out, Brüno can still come up from behind you and surprise you. Also, I’m sure there’s a message in there about how gays are received in today’s world.
