MOTU Classic’s: Roboto!

New from Mattel is Roboto the mechanical soldier of good and the heroic answer to Trap Jaw.
“Mister” Roboto was one of the most popular figures from the 80’s due to his clear upper body with working gears inside and the ability to change weapons on his arm. These weapons include a gun, axe, claw or pincer and new for this figure is a matching hand!

New And Improved Roboto!

Roboto comes in just about the same colors as his 80’s counterpart except there is a lot more detail. As with most of the new Masters of the Universe figures the articulation is great and Roboto bends at the knees, ankles, elbows and the head is on a ball joint.
As with the original, Roboto’s “mouth” opens and closes too.

Close-up Of Roboto's Gears!

Roboto is one of the great figures that seems to retain a healthy value in collectors circles and of course in the secondary market. In order for me to sell him down the line I have to be endlessly desperate–and even then I don’t think I’d part with him.

The Back Of Roboto's Package.

Some of the features included with the packaging are the usual bio on the back of the box and a listing of some of the figures as done in the original packaging. The sides of the bubble have little holes that work like vents–I’m not totally sure why a figure would be vented though, so much can get in and kill the value for those who like to sell–don’t smoke around these figures or they’ll become yellowed… Cover the vents with clear tape or put it in a glass-front cabinet like I do.

All in all, Roboto as a whole is just awesome! If you couldn’t get him and you are interested; the only option left is the secondary market which will cause most prices to double from the $20.00 price tag–it might actually be worth it though, Roboto sold out the same day he went up for sale on Mattycollector.com.
