In Aurora, Colorado today, a 31 year old guy became enraged when his local Best Buy ran out of Modern Warfare 3 and threatened to blow up the store using some sort of incendiary device. He also told several store employees that he was going to shoot them when they got off work. Update: See video where suspect tells his side of the story HERE.
The police chief released this slightly humorous statement about the situation: “Investigating officers issued a criminal summons to a man who threatened to carry out his own version of Modern Warfare at the electronics store. Fortunately, this situation did not end in violence.”
From what I’ve been reading and hearing from those who have played it already, the game doesn’t live up to all the hype. One friend of mine was pretty disappointed saying that “it’s the same thing over and over again.” Apparently, many feel the game is not that big of an improvement on the older versions. One user commented that it should have been called Modern Warfare 2.5. Here is a screenshot of the metacritic rating compliments of Gamepro:
Ouch. Just to give some perspective, the user rating for Batman: Arkham City is 8.1 on the same site. Imagine how that guy’s going to feel when he gets out of jail, plays the game and realizes just how badly he overreacted.
