Anaheim Angels vs. Boston Redsox
Yes, remember that image Angels fans? Washburn giving up the home run to Ortiz and getting swept in 04? Being an Angels fan, I’m not looking forward to this series at all. I don’t know why Scioscia conceded to the Rangers this week when the Angels had a shot at geting the best reocord. If the Angels got the best record, the Angels would have faced the Yankees, a team that the Angels have owned.
Boston Red Sox has been on a slide the past several weeks but I don’t know if that’s enough for the Angels to pull through. Pitching wise, I’d give the edge to the Angels. I’d say Boston is a more consistent hitting team but the Angels can also explode for double digit runs. Biggest factor here is home field advantage. The Green Monster has owned the Angels and that’s where 3 out of the 5 games will be played. I’m hoping I’m wrong with my prediction but if I’m right: I want to thank Mike Scioscia for his great decision against the Texas Rangers.
Boston in 4 games.
Cleveland Indians vs NY Yankees
Cleveland has been on a hot streak since the All-Star break with pitchers Sabathia and Carmona leading the way. The Yankees has also been hot in the since the break but more pressured as they tried to catch up with their division rivals, the Red Sox. The series will come down to pitching and the Indians have the advantage. Indians have the edge in starting and relief pitchers. The Yankees starting pitchers are shaky at best and bullpen is pretty inconsistent, sans Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera. Don’t forget that Alex Rodriguez chokes during the playoffs. This will be a hard fought series but the Indians will take it.
Indians in 4 games.
