The February figures are in! This month offers the Club Eternia exclusive figure Preternia Disguise He-Man complete with fold out map of Etheria.

When I first heard about Preternia Disguise He-Man I was quite unimpressed. The figure shows very little detail being that He-Man is robed and has a robber mask. Seeing the figure up close still makes me feel unimpressed–He’s no Wun-Dar but, he is cool in his own way.

Featured in the last mini comic of Masters of the Universe, Preternia Disguise He-Man used the Cosmic Key to travel back in time to the days of King Grayskull, He-Ro and Tytus the giant warlord. There, he fights along-side his ancestor and defeats the Snakemen. He returns to his time with the secret that will send King Hsss and his minions away for good.
The story was supposed to be multiple parts but, it was never finished making the action figure worthwhile after all.

Still, no Wun-Dar, Preternia Disguise He-Man comes with his solid gray Power Sword, Bionatops Blaster and a very well detailed Cosmic Key with “chrome” and “gold” accents. The build of the magical time traveling device of Gwildor is a far better detailed piece than the one included with the action figure from the Masters of the Universe movie.

The back of the package features the “also available” section and a bio on Preternia Disguise He-Man featuring art from the mini comic where he is riding Bionatops.

The action figure is OK, I don’t hate it. It’s made well and the funny thing is Mattycollector posted that the manufacturer didn’t put the “Powers of Grayskull” sticker on the front of the bubble so they sent it along for YOU to put on yourself–probably won’t but, it’s in the white mailer box if I ever decide to.

Bow, the special friend of She-Ra is far cooler than I thought it was when I saw the pictures of the action figure from the 2010 SDCC, (A pattern is developing here…)

Bow is one of the best detailed figures created off of the Princess of Power line and includes a wealth of accessories.

The “handsome archer” includes armor with an interchangeable medallion of either a solid circle or a heart as the original figure had. Bow also has an alternate head that resembles the character from the cartoon with having a mustache. The head in use is of the comic book style with no mustache. His appearance is that of a tough guy for once and I give a lot of credit towards that but, a classic, stumbling Bow would be fine also.

Also included with Bow is a harp for him to play for his beloved Princess Adora in attempt to get her into his bed.

Finally, no archer would be complete without a bow and quiver of arrows. The bow is really awesome, it has eyelets to attach a string and the arrows are molded into their carry bag, however, there is one loose arrow and his right hand is molded to be able to hold the arrow in a draw.

Big glob of plastic or a new monster for He-Man to beat-up? The Shadow Beast is quite interesting–I’m saying this because I keep looking at it on the shelf and I’m fascinated by it.

Featured in the 80’s cartoon–most memorably laughing at Beast Man when Skeletor kicks him out of Snake Mountain and also as main villains in an episode of the 2002 cartoon; Shadow Beasts are the first army builder of the MOTU Classics line (as said by Mattycollector).

The Shadow Beast is articulated well for it’s size and has a decent head sculpt. The included weapon is a tree trunk that is carved into a club with metal spikes attached. The detail on the club itself is astounding! It actually looks like a part of a tree–complete with leather wrapped handle!

The very sturdy box housing this huge figure has an evil group featured in the “also available” section and a bio that is a bit different from the thoughts of the cartoon–but, what the hey…
The Shadow Beast is not a knock-out but, it’s pretty cool.

Masters of the Universe Classics fans, be on the look out for Catra from Princess of Power, The Faceless One, Man-E-Faces, Clawful, Battleground Teela (also known as Blond, fur bikini Teela and Megator the evil green giant and enemy of Tytus the giant warlord in the coming months. Also available is a Castle Grayskull weapons rack, weapons pak.

Now, all they have to do is make a damn Stinkor! …and a million others!
