September seems to have come and went in terms of the Masters of the Universe Classics line sold on Mattycollector.com. There was no regular figure release for the main subscription, but the mini Filmation sub was in full effect with the release of Batros: Evil Master of Theft!
Now I know this will be a short look at Batros as I am not going to be opening him, but if you read through to the very end, there may just be some exciting extra little things to check out. Let’s take a look at Batros.
Batros comes on the same single carded bubble as the other MOTUC figures. There are no stickers on the bubble, but Batros does have his very own tagline, the evil master of theft. Inside the package, Batros does strike an imposing look, and there are some other exciting things about this figure.
A closer looks shows off the weapon that comes with Batros as well as the wings on his arms. This is a nice feature and the overall look of this figure really captures the look from the Filmation He-Man cartoon. I think the simplistic look of Filmation specific characters really adds to the finished look of these figures. Many fans were also speculating the nature of the bat symbol on his chest too. Some had decided that this symbol would place Batros in the Horde while others liked him being a rogue character. The story is up to each fan of course. I personally like the idea of Batros being involved in all manners of the goings-on in Eternia.
The back of the card features other characters from the toy line that have already been released. A personal favorite is of course Stinkor. The malodorous member of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors should be everyone’s favorite.
Batros has a bio that explains his role in the He-Man lore as based from the cartoon. He is an interesting character that seems to have his own evil intentions. Just what He-Man needs, another muscle bound dude with evil intentions.
Batros is the third release in the Filmation mini subscription by Mattel. With only three more to go, the Filmation sub is intent on filling in the gaps of certain fan’s collections.
Grade- A (Batros is a nice looking figure with enough menacing appeal to bring in collectors that are new to his character, while also pumping up his existing fans. Overall this was a nice reveal.)
Now onto some cool news! A few weeks ago many fans got to attend Power Con, the ultimate convention for all things He-Man, She-Ra, ThunderCats, and now Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Mattel gave some sneak peeks at upcoming releases for 2014, let’s look!
Blade- Finally fans of the He-Man movie can rejoice! Blade gets a release next April. Blade was a character from the He-Man movie and features a look from his vintage release. There is a cool look to this figure, but he is not my favorite reveal from Power Con.
Scorpia- My favorite reveal has to go to Scorpia! Fans will finally get the chance to have this never before made Horde woman in their collection next May. Her whole look is pure perfection with just the right amount of creepy Horde cool.
Battle Lion- To be released as an oversized figure in May, Battle Lion was from the 200X He-Man cartoon and he will go perfect with King Grayskull.
That is about it for this month’s look at MOTUC items. Stick around for October, as there will be a great set of releases ready for review. Take care everyone!

Man…too bad I no longer own King Grayskull, oh well, Battle Lion would have been cool. Blade is neat if anything, he even had his whip for the homoerotic scene with He-Man in the movie.
Scorpia looks cool though, I’m sure that is your number 1 on the list of end of year figures….besides a certain bulgy-eyed freak with 4 legs…

I want the Blade figure! The homoerotic scene from the live action movie was classic. You read my mind.
