The Masters of the Universe Classics Filmation mini-sub enters its second month with the release of Shokoti! August was certainly the month for magical women on Mattycollector, and Shokoti can easily be checked off the list of long demanded figures to be made.
In fact, this marks the first time that Shokoti has ever been made in figure form. So what are we waiting for? Let’s look!
Like all the regular carded figures before her, Shokoti comes carded on the standard MOTUC bubble. She is described as the Evil Witch of Eternia. The pose that she is sporting in package is very cool and it is a nod to one of her poses in her cartoon appearance.
Up close, Shokoti shows off some nice details and even some newish looking parts, like for her bodice and head. The little guy next to her is a Darkling, a monstrous minion.
The back of the card features some important MOTUC figures already released as well as another Filmation figure (Fang Man) that was included in the main line earlier this year.
The bio follows along the lines of Shokoti’s appearance in the He-Man cartoon. She was a part of a two part story called House of Shokoti (episodes 40 and 41.) She was one of the most powerful characters to go up against He-Man in the cartoon and since she is a Gar (race of blue skinned people) there have long been rumors that Shokoti is Keldor’s mother. I don’t know how I feel about that story development, but I can totally get into Shokoti being a force to be reckoned with.
Out of the package Shokoti looks really evil and sexy. I love her whole look and though I am not usually a big fan of capes, I think the whole cape-look works for her. (My issues with capes are that sometimes they work and sometimes they are just a mess.) It’s also nice to see Adora’s sculpted boots reused again. That sculpt hasn’t been seen for awhile. I also really love the skull on her belt. I know that Filmation is sometimes derided by some for their basic looking characters, but there were some really interesting and inspired characters to come out of their cartoons.
Up close Shokoti’s black eyes look so evil and mysterious! I love how her face looks. There is something serene about it, but also with a great sense of danger. This is a woman who means business and she won’t rest until she has spread darkness all across the land. Her head piece also has an interesting look.
Her cape can be removed. She looks nice without the cape, but I think that splash of red really adds some color to her. Shokoti also features the same level of articulation like with most MOTUC female figures. Her boots also swivel, which is nice and adds more options for posing.
A quick look at her back without the cape shows that her bodice is a halter. Her hair sculpt is also really nice. I always praise the Four Horsemen for their hair sculpting abilities, and they have a nice look for her hair.
The Darkling that comes with Shokoti is one gross little dude! This thing is a stunning item sculpt-wise, but it is also so gross. It looks like a booger with an eye and three mouths. I love it though; both Shokoti and the Darkling really capture their Filmation looks.
On the side towards the bottom is another mouth. I can’t help but imagine it saying, “Feed me Shokoti!”
A third mouth rests on the other side. Very gross but cool at the same time. The Darklings were used to help apprehend the good guys in the cartoon.
Shokoti (at least the one I received) also has tight joints at the ankles, knees, arms, and shoulders. I wish her gloves would have been a bit more gold, but they look nice. Over all she has a very nice stream lined look.
Now all she has to do is find a way to rid Eternia of He-Man so her true plans for world domination can begin! Can He-Man remain triumphant?
Not with a Darkling on him! Looks like He-Man might need to call in some reinforcements.
Shokoti stands tall and ready for the darkness to consume her! She marks the second Filmation mini-sub release, and I have to say, I am really pleased that she was included in the sub. There is something sinister about her whole look, and her back-story also adds to an interesting take on the world of He-Man.
Grade- A (Those gloves needed to be a little more gold, but all in all, I really like this release. Female figures are always a good thing in this line, and there aren’t that many female villains to collect, especially from Eternia. All of that makes Shokoti a solid release into the MOTUC line.)

That’s a clean looking figure you got there, I guess it was made on a Tuesday–if you know what I mean. It’s interesting if anything and the booger guy is kind of cool too.
I remember those episodes, I think that was the one with the wimpy kid and the Archeologist bitching at him constantly–I could be wrong, its been a while. Not one of my favorite episodes, but all in all, if you like the figure, then that is all that counts.
Nothing compared to Castaspella!

Yeah, I only vaguely recall this episode. I think she is a cool looking figure and that is really the only reason I wanted her. I had no ties to her cartoon story. But I totally agree, nothing can compare to Castaspella! They really made a fantastic figure with Casta for sure.
