As the most powerful Editor-In-Chief in the universe I stole this months MOTUC review from Miss M in a power play…just kidding, I actually bought Extendar from her and said I’d do the review because I wanted to open him…
On we go!
Extendar came out towards the end of the line in the 80’s and was one of the coolest figures that Mattel had offered for the masses—however, he was a bit harder to find then many of the others. I do however, remember going to a place called “Kiddie City” and there was a huge wall full of MOTU figures and not just 100 of He-Man or whatever, there was a selection of many different figures and as a kid you wished you had a huge allowance to buy them all!
Extendar comes in a “new” styled mailer box—gone are the days of the white mailer box, it is now brown and not slippery and fully recyclable and saves Mattel money on production while they charge more!
The figure is packaged in the usual card and bubble that has not changed at all—except for the air holes on the sides.
The back of the box has a bit of a different texting with the huge “Matty Collector” in the left corner—“collectors are king” huh??? Hmm…no, the Mattel executives are king, we are just shills.
The…heh, heh…”bio” states that his name is Doodon…Doo Doo Brown….takes a doo doo on his enemies…the bio is …well, whatever, its just a card now that shredded upon opening. Nice selection of “also available” characters, everyone likes Teela!
So the Master of Extension…LOL!!!!!!! …looks pretty damn cool in the standard out of box form. He includes his classic red shield that has a “secret” and new for the figure is a really awesome lance. The lance is mostly soft rubber because adult collectors are so dumb that we will poke our eyes out with it. His armor is rubber and removable and well detailed.
The back of Extendar shows even more detail within the armor—they did a good job making him look so close to the original, the difference is the multiple points of articulation and the better detail. However, he has loose ankles, which is a BIG problem when he extends…
So, how do you make an action feature without it being action packed? You create detailed parts to give it the appearance of an action feature. Included are 6 mechanical-looking additions that act like what Tallstar has to extend her body; Mechanek’s and Rattler’s neck and there might be another, but since I’ve stopped seriously collecting MOTUC, I can’t remember if there are others.
The lower legs, hands, head and upper body are removable and its pretty easy—I’m very gentle when I pull the pieces off and use a turning motion to take the parts off and put them on to ensure nothing gets too beat up, its best to care for figures that cost as much as these do. In this photo, the armor is removed and he is almost extended…
Before the armor is put back on, I just want to mention and show that the neck extension has a peace sign…very interesting; I like it a lot, it’s a good addition.
Fully extended, without the armor; Extendar has an “ab-crunch,” even though he can be pulled apart; they once again, did a nice job on making him.
Fully armed and ready for battle! Although the lance does not do anything else, the shield opens to a larger size; that is its “secret?” However the open shield causes some balance issues—although, there are two peace signs on it that match the neck extension; kind of cool—yet again.
The loose ankles make it difficult for Extendar to stand at the taller height, I’ve had to pick him up and re-pose him multiple times for the photos, at least he fell on a pillow and not the hard floor, he is too cool to get damaged.
All right…Extendar is challenging or being challenged by Ultimate, Perfect Alcala Skeletor…aw crap! Can the Master of Extension defeat the Evil Lord of Destruction! Complete with his EVIL Electronic Power Sword!?!
NO. No, poor Extendar is going to be shipped back to the palace in pieces C.O.D. But, hey, this is Ultimate, Perfect Alcala Skeletor we’re talking about, no one can defeat him! So, it’s not so bad!
WARNING, THE FOLLOWING IS RATED R FOR RAUNCHY, VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!
Tsk, tsk…the Master of Extension got caught on the palace cameras extending something that he shouldn’t in plain sight…He might get jailed for this one…damn sicko!
Extendar is a really awesome figure, he has a great sculpt, an exceptional amount of accessories and value and he appears as the original 80’s figure, just better, nicer and better detailed. Although the loose ankles make for some serious balance issues, he is on my “open” shelf next to Procrustus who is kind of holding him up so he doesn’t fall forward and onto the floor.
GRADE: A (I highly recommend Extendar to all aftermarket collectors; he truly is a great figure that brings back the memories of the 80’s generation and will give new memories for the next generation of collectors).

Thanks to Miss M for selling Extendar to me for a non-aftermarket price and letting me review him. He is truly worth opening and displaying in his full extended glory!

Wow! You can really make him tall. I had no idea he could be that tall of a figure. I also like the shiny plastic for his suit. It looks cool! Very fun, and funny, review! Now it’s time for Double Trouble! I am excited for this month’s release!
