Masters Of The Universe Classics.

The Masters of the Universe Classics collection might end up being the most valuable toys ever created. They sell out on the first day they come out, they resell for double (sometimes) and they are almost impossible to get when they do appear on the Mattycollector.com website.

Featured here are Keldor and Faker. These figures came out on the website on June 15th. I ordered in the afternoon before work and I spent forever waiting for the page to automatically reload. Due to the difficulty, I ordered Keldor alone, then ordered Faker later that day.

The figures cost $20.00 each and with the $8.00 shipping they come close to $30.00 each. The resell prices average between $35 and way higher–the sky is the limit! These figures are only available on the internet unless you have a shop around you that sells them after being purchased from Mattycollector.com.
First you have to pay the mark-up so they can make their capitalist profit, then you have to pay shipping from them, so by the time you are done getting one figure, it costs as much as three.

Faker He-Man.

If Mattel sold the Masters of the Universe Classics figures in stores they would make more money, the only thing that seems to make sense is that there are some ties to the internet aftermarket.

The tag line: “Adult Collector” is great and all, but maybe someone wants to get a bunch of the figures and if they can’t be on the site first day or afford to pay the insane mark-up on the figures from the internet specialty shops then I guess they are out of luck.  A lot of people out there who grew up with He-Man in the 80’s may want to get their kids into it and all they can do is buy one or two figures for them and the interest fades.

The figures are nice in their detail and they are fully articulated. Each comes with accessories including swords molded as they were in the 80’s and some of the figures come with extra items exclusive to the character.
The packaging is OK if you don’t look at how the bubble is sealed to the card. However, it features details such as a dimple in the center of the bubble that the originals in the 80’s had. New to the line is a detailed description and back story of the character which makes for a fun read and a jolt to the imagination.

Individually, Keldor comes with two Power Sword halves in purple and a vial of acid which cooks his face bringing him to become Skeletor. Keldor also has a cape and Skeletor’s armor.
Faker comes with a solid Orange Power Sword and an Orange half Power Sword, he has Orange armor recolored from Skeletor’s and on his chest is a sticker of his robotic control box which the 80’s figure had.

He-Man Battles Against...

These are great figures regardless of the price and the means one has to go through to get them. However, I still like the 200X figure line better due to the figures having finer detail and cool new looks–plus they are more anatomically correct.

...The Evil Forces Of Skeletor!

To finish my “Classic’s” collection I plan to get The Goddess (currently going for $35.00), Teela (for $40-$50) and Skeletor (for too much.)

Some days I wish I collected dirt, at least that’s free and I can get it as easily as walking out the front door, but alas, I have an addiction to action figures and dirt doesn’t interest me.
