Long Beach Fight Night 6 had a little bit of everything: stand up, grappling and submissions. The energy was high once again at the Long Beach City College Gymnasium as fan favorites Manny “Bam Bam” Lara, Darrel “Mongoose” Montague and Thomas Kenney were on the card. There were a total of 8 fights and the majority ended in a ko or submission.

Below are the results:
Diego Hernandez vs. Manny Lara
The independently trained Hernandez surprised the crowd as he dominated Lara for the first two rounds. Hernandez took Lara down a couple of times and even got his back. Lara came out strong in the third round and knocked down Hernandez. Lara finished off Hernandez with strikes on the ground.

Mike Palo vs. Eddie Vargas
Mike Palo controlled the fight and scored an early takedown. Palo grounded and pounded Vargas in the first round, which led to a cut on Vargas face. Palo finished off Vargas with a choke on the second round.

Adam Watts vs Chris Gomez
Watts outstruck Gomez early in the first round. As the round progressed, it was obvious Gomez was dazed by the punches. Watts took advantage and finished off Gomez with a rear naked choke.

Alex Suhonosov, MD vs Frank Park
That’s right, a doctor fought in the event. This was a stand up battle from beginning to finish. Suhonosov took Frank down a couple of times but Frank got back up. The takedowns were enough to secure a win for the doctor.

Sergio Salcido vs Sako Chivitchian
Chivitchian looked impressive as he made a quick work of the seasoned and always game, Salcido. Chivitchian got an early takedown and moved to a full mount. From the mount, Chivitchian secured a slick armbar.

Danny Juarez vs Juan Rivas
This fight got the crowd going as both fighters touched gloves in the first round and Juarez went for a cheapshot and tried to ko Rivas. Juarez controlled the ground and almost ko’d Rivas with some heavy bombs. Rivas was saved by the bell as he walked dazed towards his corner. The second round changed as Rivas almost got Juarez with an armbar. This time, it was Juarez who got saved by the bell. Juarez regained control of the third round and won a unanimous decision.

Joe Bodella vs Darrell Montague
After a few cautious minutes on their feet, Bodella took Montague down. Montague swept Bodella and took his back. After several strikes from the top, Montague finished off Bodella with a rear naked choke.

David Gardner vs Thomas Kenney
The main event was a battle as Kenney was getting the best of Gardner with strikes in the early first round. As Kenney went for the kill, Gardner accidentally headbutted Kenney. This opened up a cut in Kenney as Gardner controlled from the ground. In the second round, Gardner took Kenney down and controlled the round. In the third round, Kenney came out aggressive and landed roundhouse kicks. In the end, it wasn’t enough as Gardner won a unanimous decions.
