Yesterday was good news for MMA fans as UFC announced they signed Allistair Overeem to fight the villain that is Brock Lesnar.  Overeem is a K-1, Dreams and Strikeforce heavyweight champ.  Lesnar is the former UFC heavyweight champ before getting dominated by Cain Velasquez and losing in the first round.  The two are set to fight at UFC 141 on December 29, 2011.  Overeem is the favorite but I’m picking Lesnar to win this one.  If Lesnar takes his time with his takedowns and not bum rush, he should be able to gas Overeem out.

Just when MMA fans were hyped up from the announcement, UFC delivered a bad news today.  UFC President, Dana White,  told the press in Vegas today that contender Nick Diaz will not be fighting Georges St-Pierre for the belt anymore.  White got mad at Diaz after he failed to show up for two consecutive days of press conferences for the event.  GSP will now be fighting Carlos Condit instead.  The fight will still happen at UFC 137 on October 29.

I’m really disappointed with this news.  If there was one guy who had a good shot against GSP, it would’ve been Diaz because of his great chin and unorthodox stand up.  Diaz has been known in the past to be unpredictable with his behavior starting fights at hospitals and press conferences.  Diaz’s trainer, Cesaar Gracie, said that he couldn’t find Diaz and when he checked out the house, the fighter snuck out through the backdoor.

All I have to say to Diaz is, “Why you scared homie?”
