The demo for Left 4 Dead was released today on Xbox Live. Valve’s Left 4 Dead is a first-person survival horror shooter. The players can choose between one of four characters in cooperative mode or single player mode.
The main characters are Bill (the old leader), Francis (the badass tattooed biker), Louis (the token black dude that works at an electronic store), and Zoey (the cute college student). They’re the only survivors in a city infested with zombies. They can run really fast and come in all shapes and sizes.
The demo is a fast paced shooter that throws zombies at you left and right. It’s a good thing there’s a button for quick 180 turns. The key to surviving the game is to stick together with your teammates. If your teammates are attacked, you can save them by pumping lead into the attacking zombies. You’ll never get lost from your teammates because a blue outline will surround them if they’re behind walls and etc. And since zombies will be everywhere, you won’t have to worry about friendly-fire.
The controls are really fast, and the default sensitivity is high. Just imagine House of the Dead in first person and you get the idea. Just keep on shooting and hope for the best. I just wish that the zombies you kill didn’t feel like shooting paper weights.
The graphics aren’t that much of a leap when compared to Half-Life 2. Perhaps the game’s compensating for being able to put a crap load of zombies in one area, just like Dead Rising.
The demo is pretty fun, but when the game comes out, it’ll definitely be a rental for me.

I really hope you didn’t get paid to write that article. – It’s filled with errors, bad spelling, run-on sentences, etc…
Anyway, the demo…
The demo was moderately fun. I was kind of disappointed with the gameplay and the graphics. I would call it more of a shoot’em up than a survival game.
Whenever a horde of zombies was coming at me I’d simply hold down the trigger on my M16 and they’d all perish before my magazine was spent.
The “it’s different every time you play it” thing is kind of a crock. It’s a very linear game. The only thing that’s different is WHEN the zombies attack. It would have been much better had we been given a map and an open city to explore and move through.
I have to take into account, though, that it was only a demo of the first level or two. Hopefully the rest of the game will be more entertaining.
