News has surfaced that Directors J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg are teaming together for an Untitled Project. There is no word of what the story will be about or when filming will begin or what Steven Spielberg’s involvement will be in the project. So pretty much we can only speculate that something might be filmed, that might involve Steven Spielberg, and eventually might come out.
All kidding aside think this is a cool idea and I would love to see these two gifted directors collaborate together on something. It would also be a cool way of Steven Spielberg passing on the torch to J.J. It’s been a long time since Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Steven Spielberg will be turning 64 for this December. While the idea pleases the fanboy in me I wouldn’t expect to hear anymore from this for a while. J.J.’s schedule is pretty packed with Star Trek 2, Mission Impossible 4, Cloverfield 2, LOST, Fringe, and the newly announced Samurai Jack Movie.
If J.J. Abrams is the new Steven Spielberg, then who’s the new George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola?

I’ll go with Christopher Nolan, David Fincher and (based on the hopes he’ll direct more) Shane Black?

M. Night Shyamalan was called by some as the next Spielberg, and I say he still is. 🙂
